In India, a man accidentally shot himself in the knee and accused neighboring boys of fabricating a story to avoid questioning.
According to Indian media, the person who was accidentally injured by his own bullet is named Sajit Kumar and he is a bus driver.
Police say a call came to the police helpline on Wednesday night in which Sajit Kumar said he was smoking a cigarette near a park near his home when two boys came on a motorbike and left him on a minor. They shot him in the knee and fled.
Police say Sajit Kumar is in hospital after the incident and is out of danger.
Speaking to Indian media, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that Sajit Kumar could not answer the questions correctly during the interrogation and tried to take the matter to the other side.
He said that eyewitnesses also did not see any incident of firing and no traces of blood were found from the place where the incident took place.

Police later arrested Sajit Kumar's wife from his relative's house.

Police also recovered a pistol which Sajit Kumar's wife had hidden in her relative's scooter.
Police have registered an FIR against Sajit Kumar for violating the Arms Act, even though he has been involved in murder and illegal weapons cases before.
