The federal government has begun work on legislation to ban dowry. According to private news channel , the legislation proposes that the groom's family will not be able to demand expensive furniture, vehicles, land, property or jewelery. According to Islamic teachings, basic necessities will not be neglected in dowry, some bridal clothes will be included in the dowry. It is suggested that the amount of dowry or the value of goods should not exceed 4 tola of gold The value of gifts given by the government will also be determined. The legislation proposes that the law banning dowry should apply to all four provinces.
