Oman: Bad fate for garbage tourists

 


Garbage dumping at tourist destinations in the Sultanate of Oman can have dire consequences.

According to details, the Environment Authority in Oman has arrested a few tourists who had dumped garbage in the Damanyat Islands.

A statement released online by environmental officials said a group of tourists camped illegally in the Damanyat Islands and dumped garbage, for which they had to be arrested.

The statement said, "The Authority is making continuous efforts to protect the environment and natural phenomena from the hands of the perpetrators. As part of these efforts, the Department of Environment in Al-Batina has arrested a few tourists I was camping in the nature reserve without permission.

The statement also said that violators left litter on the site, which requires experts to pick up and dispose of, so that the tourist spot can be kept clean.

The statement added: "We urge all of them to abide by the rules and regulations issued for the tourist destination of the Damanian Islands and to visit the reserve to enjoy the beauty of nature here.
