A fire broke out in a gas tanker in Nigeria after an explosion killed 28 people, including nine children, and damaged several vehicles in the blast and fire.
A road safety agency official said a gas tanker exploded in the central Nigerian state, setting it on fire.
A spokesman for the Federal Road Safety Corporation said the incident took place in front of a petrol station on the highway.
The state governor said that several lives were lost in the accident and several vehicles, property and other valuables were destroyed as a result of the fire in the tanker.
